ESU #17 will be having an all-staff meeting on Tue Jan 4. Part of our day will include the AdvancED Readiness Survey.
The Planning Team will be informing the entire staff to complete an online survey (the Readiness Questions) prior to Jan 4, which will give us a great opportunity to have conversations around those questions when we all meet together.
At our 10/1/2010 Planning Team meeting, a question arose regarding how we determine a numeric value (1, 2, 3, 4) as a response to each Readiness Survey question, and whether mean, median, or mode would be acceptable. Is this Survey for local analytic purposes, or do the results of the survey get passed on to AdvancED?
Thanks for your help!

Hello, Jeff –
Your last question in paragraph three sums it up. You are correct in thinking that this is a self-analysis, used for local purposes. It is not sent to the AdvancED offices. It is sent to the State Office and, in turn, will be shared with the external group that comes into the unit for the actual Readiness Visit, but is used only by that team for the purpose of generating questions and to probe into the self-review process and results.
The method of collecting/compiling results can be done in a manner that is most meaningful to you. Some forms are simply completed by putting an X in the box most agree with. On others, I see the number of ‘votes’ that were collected for column 1, column 2, 3, and 4 . . . . . . The choice is yours, but the team will ask who was involved in the collection, how interpretation was made, etc.

I hope this helps. Take care. Freida
